Yele is a small village with about 5000 inhabitants located in the centre of Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone is a West African country with years of civil war history. Because of the lack of electricity, Yele has a difficult time developing and reaching economical growth. Providing electricity to the entire community through implementation of the Ndassie Light, a handy, portable lamp, will be a first step that increases opportunities for economical growth and well-being. The technology used for this product is straightforward. It consists of a charging device and a luminance device. The Luminance Device consists of a battery and a light. The Ndassie light aims at improving adults’ literacy and the education of children. The concept is income generative for local population in general and women in particular. Furthermore it will reduce carbon emission and deforestation.
